Whether you are a diamond painting pro or just starting your first ever diamond painting there is always something new to learn. Here we are going to share some tricks of the trade that will assist you when creating a diamond painting masterpiece.
If you are struggling with your diamonds sticking together grab a can or two of Static Guard fabric spray. Spray a little on your diamonds to prevent them from sticking. Dyer sheets also work well if you are not able to buy the fabric spray.
Refilling your diamond containers can be a real bore, especially when you have a large painting. You have your symbols on your vials, but your symbols are not on your bags of diamonds. The solution? Use Dry-Erase Tape and multi-colored markers to put the symbol, DMC code, and color on your container lids.
Do you have diamonds that are so melded together they seem impossible to separate? Worry no more! All you need to do is grab two diamond trays I am sure you have just lying around. Place the trays one on top of the other and press down firmly. You should hear a pop or snap when they separate. If the diamonds still do not want to separate try squeezing the trays together and rubbing them back and forth. You can purchase diamond painting trays very inexpensively in bulk on Amazon.
Are you waiting on a light pad that you may have ordered? In the meantime, grab an old or unused iPad and open the flashlight app. TADA! You can now illuminate your diamond painting. A light pad still works awesome as well.
Have you ever framed a painting and can’t help but notice the DMC grid peeking out of the side of the mat or frame? Someone else may not notice it but I am sure you will! Try using nail polish remover on a cotton pad to remove the diamond legend and any other writing before framing.
Considering bringing your diamond painting on vacation with you but you are sure how to transport it? Grab a puzzle roll-up mat/ carrier! It’s pure genius…If money is an issue and you have a bit more space you can also trying placing your diamond painting between two pieces of foam board and taping them together. However, the puzzle roll-up mats are pretty inexpensive.
Do you have a large area of your painting with the same color? Try mixing things up a bit and keep your rows straight by using the checkerboard method.
All you need to do is place a diamond in every other box and then go back and fill in the spaces. You’ll get a satisfying “click” when you fill in a blank space with a diamond! During the process, your canvas will look like a checkerboard, just as the name suggests.
You have successfully completed your diamond painting! Great job! The big question is how do you keep is looking fabulous for years to come? Grab some Modge Podge and apply a coating to lock your diamonds in place and keep your painting looking as fresh as the day you made it.
